Siena, the charm of a more intimate season

Autumn does more than change Siena's colours; it also changes the pace at which the city reveals itself. The light becomes softer and the historic centre takes on a more intimate atmosphere, ideal for lingering over its squares, palaces and medieval views.

From Hotel Chiusarelli, Piazza del Campo, Siena Cathedral and the city's main artistic landmarks are just a few minutes away on foot, turning every outing into a spontaneous journey through the heart of the city.

The floor of Siena Cathedral, a masterpiece finally on display

Autumn 2026 offers a particularly special opportunity. Until 15 November, visitors can admire the floor of Siena Cathedral fully uncovered, one of the largest and most precious figurative cycles ever created in marble.

The fifty-six marble inlays, created over six centuries, form a journey through allegories, prophets and biblical scenes. Usually protected for conservation reasons, the work makes a visit to the Cathedral a truly evocative experience. From the hotel, it is just a pleasant walk through the historic centre.

Beyond Siena, the autumn landscape

Beyond the city, the season reveals another side of the region. The vineyards of Chianti take on warm hues, the hills stand out more sharply, and historic towns such as San Gimignano and Montalcino acquire an even more intimate charm.

This is the ideal time to follow scenic roads, visit castles and wineries, and discover a winemaking tradition deeply rooted in the landscape. Each itinerary reveals a different expression of the Sienese countryside.
